November PAD 4: Discovering

Today’s Prompt: Write a poem about finding something unexpected

Today’s Poem:

There is a precipice
between now and the future
in which we lay our plans.

It shortens as the years
whir past, leaving a slither
in which to will and want.

There is a crevice
between now and tomorrow
into which we squeeze, gasping.

It is neither enough,
nor far too much
but it never satisfies.

Then, sometimes,
a slice of time
finds its way into your day.

That discovery is priceless.

Today’s Ponderings: Considering that I fell off the wagon for posting poems here, I am in “catch up mode” and trying my best to make good use of the daylight time saved.
