Slippery Slope?

Today’s WORD on Journalism: Why Write?

“Writing is like prostitution. First you do it for love, and then for a few close friends, and then for money.”

—Moliere (Jean-Baptiste Poquelin) (1622-1673), French comic playwright

  1. Interesting quote. I rarely share my poetry with people who know me – I do it under this pseudonym, and have rarely accepted money for it.

So, I perhaps I am the proverbial hooker with a heart of gold. Or an idiot. – Mosk

  2. The quote made me think of my intentions, and like you, I may have dabbled a bit with sharing my poetry with friends/family's or wanting to turn a profit, but overall, I love to write. Does that mean if I start looking for publishing opportunities I'm pimping myself out, that I'm losing the love? Meh, I don't think so. Maybe we're both poetic idiots.
