LET’S PLAY
Had I been gregarious,
more extroverted,
and lent myself to your
frenzy, I’d become
a rental for your whims
but because I stayed afar
by matter of circumstance
you never had the chance
to suffer the deafening
lull of having it all, then nothing
like the unheard sounds
of a tree hitting the ground
in a forest worlds away,
my invitation stands firm,
but silent: Come on,
let’s play.
